Client Eligibility

Fredericksburg Counseling Services serves residents of the City of Fredericksburg and counties of Stafford, Spotsylvania, Caroline and King George and Westmoreland

Eligible clients may be UNinsured or UNDERinsured.  (UNDERinsured has some sort of health insurance coverage, which is deemed inadequate due to lack of comprehensive coverage, lack of providers who accept the patient’s insurance, or the insurance plan has high out-of-pocket costs.)

Eligible clients will self-pay a standard fee of $20 for each counseling session. If standard fee becomes a hardship, a fee adjustment can be offered.  Services will not change as a result of a fee adjustment.

Eligible clients meet income guidelines of no more than 300% Federal Poverty Guidelines.  For example:

Verifications the client must provide at first appointment includes:

  • Picture ID (required)
  • Proof of Residency (utility bill, driver’s license, something that shows your name and current address)
  • Federal Tax Return for most recent calendar year (1040 or 1040EZ- if you don’t have a copy you can call 1-800-829-1040 for one)
  • W-2 form from most recent calendar year
  • Pay Check stubs (if working, for one month, must be recent)
  • Social Security Disability verification, or Award letter (current  year if applicable)
  • Unemployment compensation verification or award letter (if applicable)
  • Or other identifiers
